James has experienced a great loss in his life and his new song brings you through it. The song talks of someone who took their own life - throughout the song James is expressing his confusion of how they could have felt so sad. The experience has led James to reconsider his beliefs, James was raised a Christian but expresses his disenchantment with ‘God’ stating, ‘if he is real, my god he’s evil - making a world where people feel that low’. The songs homemade character combined with the impressive quality guitar and vocal performance makes for a unique and endearing sound.
‘There is no love’ is a catchy bedroom indie rock song with hints of folk and generous smatterings of tape compressed guitar. It can be compared to the the upbeat yet melancholy songs of Rex Orange County and Mac de Marco. ‘There is no Love’ is uplifting yet dark, a stripped song with soaring vocals and lead guitar carrying the track.
lyrics
Verse 1
Why did you feel so down
Its hard for me to understand
but i’m worried now
when i’m your age i’ll understand
About the life you led
your dreams gone you had nothing left
people think its so sad
but now i think maybe it was for the best
and now I know..
Chorus 1
There is no love
There’s no one above
There’s only what we feel like
Your thoughts and your moods
So bad you couldn’t make it through
Life wasn’t for you
You weren’t right
Verse 2
Was it the only way
The only way for it to end
I don’t know what to say
When friends ask
They can’t comprehend
How could she feel so sad?
In other’s eyes you had everything
they never saw that side
underneath you had nothing left
and now I know..
Chorus 2
There is no love
There’s no one above
There’s only what we feel like
Your thoughts and your moods
So bad you couldn’t make it through
Life wasn’t for you
You weren’t right
Bridge
Love why did you go
I don’t believe in God since you left no
If he is real my God he’s evil
Making a world where people feel that low
Your death taught me something I didn’t wanna know
Chorus 3
There is no love
There’s no one above
There’s only what we feel like
Your thoughts and your moods
So bad you couldn’t make it through
Life wasn’t for you
You weren’t right
Outro
Where is your love
it’s gone for good
you never said goodbye it don’t feel right
My thoughts and my moods
so bad but i’ll make it through
life without you
Will be alright
